Quinny Postmatch report

Saturdays 5 point loss to SHOCs saw our season come to close. Disappointing to get so close and not be able to shut the game out and we certainly had our chances. I could not be prouder of the effort of the group. I know that we impressed with our style of play due to the fight and toughness that the boys display and their willingness to work for each other. Principles that could take the group along way.

We knew Satdy would be tough against a very good side with possibly the best player in the comp running about for them in Lauchlan Button. Windy conditions presented and we kicked with it to start. Both teams felt each other out as happens in finals footy and after some adjustment with our forward direction we kicked a couple of goals and went in at quarter time. The second quarter again was tight with us looking really dangerous when we worked through Shocs press and just a couple execution errors hurt us, in saying that the boys were brave with their attempts to score and played really smart footy.

Our third quarter was where perhaps we lost the game on reflection. We didnt pressure them on the scoreboard and it set us up for a last quarter where we needed to pretty much do everything right! I think a lot of people at the ground thought SHOC would push away but we weren't going down without a fight! Ultimately we fell short, by 5 bloody points but we take a lot out of the game! Matty Jac kicked 3 as our major goal scorer and Scholzy who was one of our best kicked 2.

Our best were plenty with Orry our best closely followed by Sam Inglis, Scholzy, Nick Ramsey and Ruwy through the mids. Elliot Dunkin impressed with his poise and Skill and Tom Finn played a terrific game and stood tall when needed knowing a pack was coming and took a great mark.

For those interested and this by no means is an excuse or a cop out, this is fact and worth making people aware.  Saturdays side was made up of:

10 of last years div 3 A grade premiers.

5 of last years B grade premiers.

1 of last years C grade premiers.

2 new recruits (Ruwy and Case Beard).

1 player who missed 2015 in Shaz with injury.

3 u/18's

Aaron Bergsma, Glen Soper, Hamish Gordon, Jared Braley, Tom Clarke and Wil Papatolis were unavailable due to injury.

I'll save thank yous to the people who earnt it in more formal surrounds but   I say thank you to the footy club for giving me the opportunity to work with them and thank you to the players who you cant help but respect and admire for their efforts in 2016. In no way do we accept the result but draw excitement on whats to come with these fighters!

Ta Quinny.

Quinny Prematch report

Saturday we head to Mitchell Park to play SHOCs in again a knockout final. We are seeking more improvement on last week and I believe as a group we still have more in us. We will need it to beat SHOC who will be keen to get a win to progress to next weeks Prelim.

Unfortunately Jared Braleys hammy is no good. Boof has done everything possible to be right after missing near the whole year with the injury. His desire to play is inspiring in itself and should drive our lads hard tomorrow. We also lose Glen Soper to a pre planned back op for an issue that Sopes needs to sort for longevity. He's a had a really good year and we will miss them both.

However, footy takes away and provides at the same time and coming in to our squad are Mick Papatolis after a good game in the two's. Mitch Molnar who has returned from injury in strong form and Henry Papatolis and Elliot Duncan from school first eighteen commitments. The 22 will be finalised today awaiting the final decision.

Congratulations to the over 35's on a great undefeated season. Credit to the old boys.

We'd love to see as many PHOS people there as possible. We are all in this together.

See you Satdy.

Ta Quinny.
