2017 C Grade Coach
Announced
2017 u/18 Coach
Wanted.

PHOS Camden is excited to announce the appointment of Sam Taylor as our C-Grade coach. Sam comes to this position with energy and passion for creating a great environment for players to develop and enjoy their footy. Sam recently celebrated 150 games at PHOS Camden as a player. Sam is a genuine person who can see the benefits of a C-Grade which can provide players who will play at a higher level for the club. Please get behind Sam and help him to get the right people to prop up our numbers so that there is some good competition to make this team.
This is also a good time to communicate that we are likely to be playing all C-Grade games at the same oval as the A and B grade in 2017. This will increase the feeling of us all being together and allow more people to easily watch C-grade games. We acknowledge that this is harder for some people to play football due to work and we apologise if that impacts you. The amateur league is adamant that this is the best way moving forward.
We wish Sam and the players a great 2017!

We are now looking to replace Darren Grant as u18 coach in 2017 due to family and work commitments. It is a hard decision for Darren as he really wants to further impact this group. Thank you Darren from all of us and we appreciate how you brought together so many people.
If you are a parent, and you have coaching passion, we want to hear from you. Please contact either Darren Grant or Peter Arbery through a direct Facebook message. We will support the successful applicant in getting the right people to help them during the season and also assist in their familiarisation with the players. We would expect the applicant to be a good communicator, have a sense of fun around football, and be patient with the possibility of list changes weekly due to college commitments and holidays.
This is a great role and you will be rewarded by seeing some fantastic young men grow in their football and enjoy the support of their families. Our playing are a great bunch of kids to work with from last season and a bunch of new kids coming up from the age below.
If you have any questions which need to be answered, please contact Darren or Peter in the same manner as mentioned.
Go Phantoms

Senior Coaches reappointed for 2017
Popey Retires

The PHOS Camden Football Club have endorsed the continuation of coaches Simon Quinn and Craig Bahnisch as the 2017 “A” Grade and “B” Grade coaches. Whilst a lot of their hard work goes unnoticed by supporters of the club, we recognise and thank them for the many hours over the preseason and actual season in which they have acted honestly and openly in growing our football talent. There are many one on one chats about football and life which our players have had the chance to learn more. There genuine concern for these players and this club is unquestionably strong. We thank them for this loyalty.
Simon mentioned that he felt there was “unfinished business” at the club as we move along the journey to competing at the highest level again. Both coaches delivered premierships in 2015 and had helped their teams compete in finals in 2016. We would encourage every player and supporter to get behind these two men as in the coming months we reload for another season with a club which is ours to love.
I thank the Football Operations Committee for their unanimous decision to reappoint Simon and Craig and the endorsement from the PHOS Camden General Committee. I am grateful for the passion people bring to this organisation.
I would also like to thank retiring “C” grade coach Adrian Pope for his work. A premiership coach and former club champion who is loved by all. I am pretty sure we will see him in a new role soon.

The PHOS Camden Football club wishes to welcome new A grade coach Simon Quinn. Simon comes to us with great experience. Simon played his league football at South Adelaide before starting his coaching with Edwardstown in the SAAFL and then East Gambier in the south east. He brings strong ideas on how the game should be played and I am sure he is in for a successful stint with the Phantoms.

PAST NEWS
2015 Coaches Preseason Report
Gday Phantoms,
Report so far.
When a footy club is relegated twice in 2 years from the outside looking in it, it's blurry! From the inside looking out at our club it's clear as day! We must work hard on and off field, make sacrifices and we will redeem ourselves!
Pre season 2015 kicked off in November with the lads completing approximately 12 sessions before Christmas. The attitude and effort was first class with new players being introduced and welcomed into the group. We resumed training 2 weeks ago and with numbers above 40 shows the group is focussed and understanding it will be tough to get a game.
Dave Salter our runner is overseeing the pre season and there is no doubt the group will be fitter and stronger.
John Buss and Craig Bannisch resume their roles within our coaching group and the stability that this provides is essential to us consolidating and launching from there. Darren Grant is coaching our U/18's and a group of the lads have started training and we are excited with what we see. Darren is a big get for us into the Senior group and is the perfect choice to bring the young fella’s into Senior footy.
Through good work from Steve Jacquier we have been able to secure all but 3 of last year’s playing group. Casey Beard returns to his home town of Lock for their anniversary year and we wish Case all the best. Case and the Adelaide based Lock boys will train with us for the year. Young Shaun Smith heads to the Barossa for work reasons. Both lads we'd love to have with us but we fully support them. Michael Bennett I believe has gone to Modbury!
The number one most important objective for our club was to hold our players! We've done that!
Number 2 was to contact quality young men or old who could play footy. In saying that we had some contact us which reflects that has hard as last year was for all sorts of reasons, the boys sticking it out and improving and not wasting time sooking or whinging makes us an attractive option to be a part of!
Big Orry Cross returns to our club and we are wrapped to have him. Ors will work with Steve Williams in the ruck. Another big man is Tom Quinn, a 6ft 4 key forward who brings leadership qualities. Tyson White a hardworking on ball forward. Both players from Mitcham. Brent Van Gils and Sam Williams are full time PHOS players this year having a year away from SANFL clubs to consolidate with us! Both will be huge assets for us! Glenn Soper, Cam Smith and Brayden Noonan join us from Mount Gambier and Glenelg and add to an ever growing strong on ball division. Also with us is the "ratpack" lead by Sammy McGill. They've just sort of turned up being ex Immanuel lads. Approximately 6-8 young men and they have impressed in the early stages.
I'll leave it there but there is more and we are hoping to secure a couple more very very good players in the next week or so, I'll hold off until that's done but they are the type of people and players we want!
It's not all about recruits, the efforts of our established players and our lads who want to establish has been first class. Brent Eddy has bitten the bullet and is complimenting his return to footy last year with a top pre season! Plus the fact he's dragged out Dan James who appeals a lot is great.
We have trials against SMOSH and Goody Saints with an internal mixed in. Should hold us in good stead!
I will keep the site updated re signings and anything of interest!
A big thank you to Full Hammer & Jetts Gym Kurralta Park re our great pre season singlet’s!
Thanks, Quinny.
SANFL comes to Camden Oval
One of the biggest crowds in many years was seen at the Jungle with car parking extending past Cummins House. North Adelaide had a reasonably convincing trial game win over a very young looking Glenelg side.
Club Life
(from Coach Quinny)
If you are reading this it most probably means you are part of OUR CLUB, The Phantoms! If that's the case, then you are lucky! You are lucky if you are part of any Football Club! The ones I've seen provide you a place to be you! Take your family, watch them grow up, grow up yourself and maybe even slip back into your youth sometimes too! Not everybody’s the same; one hundred different personalities make up a footy club, one hundred different opinions, and one hundred different ideas with one hundred different ways of expressing it! The one thing that pulls us all together is OUR CLUB!
Nobody is more important than anyone else, from the best A grade player to the young Under 8 who's more interested in waving to Mum and Dad than getting a kick just yet, to the girls in the kitchen to the bloke who pumps up the footies. We are all a part of OUR CLUB!
Good Football Clubs provide a safe place to be, plenty of laughs, plenty of pride, a home. When you don't have it you miss it, when you haven't had it, you've missed out and you don't know it and maybe never will! Good Football Clubs are at their best when things are tough, not when things are easy. Things get tough, it's not all good, we are hit with disappointment and frustration, we disagree with decisions and direction but this is all what makes us a part of OUR CLUB!
We are hit with tragedy! We don't see it coming, we don't want it, we don't want to know about it, it's not fair, but we wrap up the people we need to with the arms of OUR CLUB!
We at PHOS have a Club, we have to continue to strive to be that place you want to be, we work together to be judged on where we are heading not where we've been! Take our Football Family with us no matter what presents and bring those that want, into it, because it's not mine or yours, it's OUR CLUB!
Thanks,
Quinny.
The Drought has Broken!
(and we get to change our web photo at last!)
Its been 21 games since our last A grade win for points way back in Round 4 May 4th 2013. The Phantoms were sensational from the 1st bounce to the final siren with a 44 point win over Flinders Park. Coach Quinny raising the "All team played well" flag.
Go to our Facebook page or You Tube to view highlights/song
The B's also had a convincing win 61 point win, with Dale Marriot having a standout game.
The C's were competitive but went down by 27 points to Port Districts, Klenig & Kreig among the best.
The O/35s fell just short to Adelaide Uni with the lead changing multiple times.

2015 Camden Classic - Results
Club favorite Luke May won the 400m footballers race on the line from a SMOSH WL (unknown) who was motoring home after Maysie lead in the straight by a fair margin. With 30 metres to go the other guy caught and passed him but next second it was like the guy got shot and started to pull up with about 2 0r 3 metres to go and Maysie dived on the line for an unbelievable win. The crowd and commentator went wild....Maysie thinking about giving footy away and concentrating on the next Olympics..Good Luck!!!
Phantoms Billy Cameron came a close 3rd ! Great effort by young josh Resnais to make the final (who got the bragging rights beating his brother jake across the line in the heat.) Ross Taylor ran really well to make the final also. Good effort by Parko and Brian Cheung in the heat run.
Special mention to Tuss , Sharon, Tania and Fiona and Ron for an awesome effort on the Bbq and bar all day. - good effort by the two coaches , Simon and Craig for helping out on the bbq and not burning the patties like Gerrard did!!!!and thanks to all other helpers....(by S.Jaquier)
