Quinnys A grade postmatch report

Saturday saw great conditions for footy although maybe a touch warm but both clubs came to play on what is our ANZAC weekend and chance to show our respect.  Unley Mercedes got off to a good start but as has been the way we got ourselves playing our sort of footy and felt we began to get control through the midfield with Orry and then Ben Toohey on top in ruck.

Our second quarter was a good one with lots of run and some solid use going forward.  We took a handy lead in at half time and although our third quarter didn’t allow us to push away We were confident we weren’t going to stop running and working for each other.

This was the case and our last quarter was a really good way to close out the day and take a 6 goal win against a good side.
Our goal kickers were spread but Sam Williams 5 is a direct result of the work he and Harry Cumming do in the role for the team they play. Their work rate and leadership is great for us and I throw Reavs in to that group. All three players had very good games.

Our best were Scholzy on his back flank good and Lochie Barreau clever through the mids. Corey McDonald was good in the back of last week providing good skill and leadership. Bergs and Orry great in the mids and our best again was Josh Bayliss through hard work. His “1 percenters” a highlight.

Well done to Sam McCabe on his first game, he showed he can develop in to a good player for us at that level and kicked a goal from a handball from Bergs in the forward 50. Rare.

Badluck to Granty, Mick,Toosa and their lads on the losses but we are winning overall and lets not lose sight of it. Further to that the U/18’s tried hard Sunday and no more than Wil Price. Great game Pricey full of courage, good skill and tenacity.

Looking forward to a good week on the track.

Ta Quinny

Grantys B grade postmatch report

Once again the B Grade got off to a very slow start but regrouped at half
time and started to play the style of football we are trying to get the boys
to play.

With 5 changes it gave the opportunity for a few players to come up from the
C grade and U18's to have a crack a B grade football.

All the inclusion played well which gives us great depth moving forward well
done Jessie Aedon, Jaiden (U18) and Ben T, Frangers and Blighty
Dane played his normal solid game with Aedon Lyon (after playing a half in
the C's) will be a player of the future.

Tom Unger battled hard in the ruck and was backed up well by Seb Brini.
Frangers played well under pressure backed up by Webby who got better as the
game went on.

Resi gave us a target up forward with Wardy providing  drive  through half
back and wing.

We are getting there boys so stick to it and the wins will come

Michaels C grade post match report

Saturday we went into the game with high expectations for a win, with more selection due to injuries and unavailability so getting their chance were Recourt, McPhee, Goodwin and Old man Ports and calling on a legend in Popey to boost the side with experience.

Once again the scoreboard did not reflect the game we played our endeavour for the football is getting better we still need to work on the one percenters Shepherd and tackles the little things in football that mean a lot.

Unley were better skilled and had more run than us. We as C grade footballers must get out to training work on our fitness and skills and a win is not far away again.

Well done to all the sponsors on a great day, bad luck to Granty a wins not far away mate well done to Qunnie and the A grade on there win.

Toosa u/18 post match report

Goodwood Saints came out to play on Sunday with a game plan to press up all there players to our wings when we kicked out from full back .This type of football makes it hard to play a good style of football and as we found out Sunday and as coaches I think next time we play them we can change out tactics and work our way through there press.

Our skills when we won the ball was disappointing with doing all the hard work and turning over the ball.

Some highlights of the day was to see Julian take a great grab Pricey getting his own ball and hitting his targets, the work load of Crouchy,  Jaiden Agars, Mitch Parker and Savi.

It was great to see the lads play in the c and b grades playing two games on a weekend helping out the club and also getting there fitness up .

Next week we play Flinders Park at home starting at 3 pm which we need to perform.

Unley

Unley finished 2017 in 6th spot with 9W & 9L.

Our last game against the Jets was round 10 where we won by 5 points, prior to that in Round 1 we had a good 49 point win.

Two rounds completed in 2018 Unley have had a tough draw playing last years demoted div 1 sides SPOC & Salisbury North going down by 51 & 91 respectively.

Fair to say they will be keen for a win against us.

Quinnys A grade Prematch report

Saturday we host Unley Mercedes in again what should be a very good game.  That basically sums up A2 this year. Even, and you must be at your best.

We lose Youngy with a leg injury that will see him miss a couple, Henry Pap has been selected for the Bays and we wish him all the best and Matt Jac represents the Police/Firies combined side taking on the Australian Defence Forces in the Port V Geelong curtain raiser. All the best Matty.

Coming in is Sam Williams which is a great in for us with Sams form and leadership and Brent Eddy returns to A grade footy after contemplating retiring a couple of months ago due to studies. Great to have him back and firing. Sam McCabe comes in for his first game of A grade footy and we believe Sam will adapt well.

A very big thank-you to our Sponsors. We appreciate your generosity and support and we will play accordingly.

See you Satdy,

Quinny

Grantys B grade Prematch report

Looking forward to taking on 3rd placed Unley Mercedes Jets this week at home in what should be a very completive game.

Michaels C grade Prematch report

Well footy fans like they say a weeks a long time in football and as we prepare this week the skies have cleared gone are the darker clouds and some warm weather is here as we welcome Unley to our home.

Even though we didn't win on the scoreboard last Saturday I still can't fault the endeavour shown by all the boys that took the field for PHOS, training Thursday night was excellent and it really puts as in a good mood for todays game against Unley.

Selections again were hard missing a lot of key players due to injuries and availability but we blood new faces again we move lads up to play in the b grade which is all great signs for the club.

Welcome all the new players Recourt, Goodwin, Sav and MacPhee for there first game, and welcome back legends of the club Popey and old man Ports to have a trot around too.

Wish Qunnie and Granty all the best for Saturday & special thanks to all our sponsors on Sponsors Day.

See ya at the footy and back at the club after.

Cheers Summers
