Quinnys Post Match report

Saturday we hosted Scotch in what turned out to be a really good hard fought game.  I was really pleased with some of the structured footy we played as well as the way our guys took every one on one contest as important. The spirit and involvement of the boys was excellent and eventually we shook off a good Scotch to win by 40 points. A great effort given we had some players out. Lots in fact of our A's and B's.

Goal kickers were spread with big Harry Cumming our best player kicking 3 goals. Harry has been a big bonus to us this year with his effort and work rate. He has taken on a big role and is bringing others in to the game. Orry controlled the ruck in his best game for the year and Ruwy backed up again with a top game. Bergs and Rama were terrific on ball and Sam Inglis played his normal solid game. Harry Young played another role for us stopping a good player. Well done to Josh James on a good first game and Ben Toosa and Mitchy Molnar on good contributions in their first game for the year.

Goals were spread again. A really good win.

Well done to Craig and the B's and Sam and C's. Bad luck to Rich and the U/18's.

Thanks to Sam and the C grade boys for having a couple of old blokes run around. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Still limping but worth it.

The biggest thank you is to our club and player sponsors. Thanks for everything you do and I hope Saturday was a good day for you.

Ta Quinny.

Craigs Postmatch report

We were always going to be challenged from a spirited Scotch OC in the B grade last weekend, they hit us hard early and were only a goal down at quarter time.

After re grouping at the first break our guys started to bust the game open by applying great pressure to the opposition, forcing turnovers and denying them the footy by using the ball well when we had it, this allowed us to kick away in the second half to get a nine goal win.

It was a massive effort from our guys, especially in the last quarter with a man down on the bench we were struggling with guys cramping but they showed spirit and great character by pushing through to the last siren.

Andrew Harris was our leading goalkicker with six, Declan Grant kept his tally rolling over with four goals and Parko, Wattsy, Loadsey, Hot Dogs and Jake Resnais all kicked one each.

Dane Laing was BOG with a great captain’s game in the middle, giving us plenty of grunt around the stoppages with his tackling pressure while Tom Unger shut down one of their dangerous forwards who was a 50+ goal kicker from their A Grade last year. Jack Loades added another facet to his game by going into the midfield rotations and having an instant impact around the ball, Wattsy is getting better every week in the midfield and had a big impact around the ground. Big Harry gave us a great target up forward and was unlucky not be higher in our best with six goals in his first game back for the year and James Cadzow was solid at centre half back directing traffic in our backline.

I’d also like to thank Sam Meyers who helped us out in the Twos last week after playing a full C Grade game and then suited up for another 3 quarters of footy with us.

Well done to Simon and the A’s and Sam and the C’s to round out the three wins for Sponsor’s Day as big thankyou for their support, let’s keep the momentum going against Athelstone this week.

Cheers,

Craig B.

u/18 Ritchies Post Match Report

EDWARDSTOWN 15  7  97   PHOS  5  4  34

Not a good game for us today Townies were fired up for the game and we were very flat and that continued for most of the game as the score suggests. During the second half there were patches of some good footy from us but they were few and far between, our attitude before the game was not what it should have been and we took that onto the field but that’s life and the beauty about football is threes next week to improve and look forward to, this team has and is very capable of playing some very good football and that’s why we are in the top four but there is still five rounds to play and we need to be a lot better in the weeks to come in both attitude and effort which I believe we will be. I was impressed with the leaders of the team after the game in the way they gathered all the players together, took some ownership of the team and spoke to the group about what needs to be done in the weeks ahead to improve ourselves which included a few 18s training sessions on Wednesday nights. Even though it was a bad day scoreboard wise all of us are looking forward to making amends in the weeks to come. We also wish our assistant coach Anthony Booth a great time when he leaves this week for an overseas holiday. Cheers Richie

Quinnys Pre Match report

Tomorrow is a really good day for the club being our club Sponsors day. Without this support our lads don't get to play the game therefore our sponsors are a key part of "Our brand". We as players and coaches shouldn't ever lose sight of the parts we all play along with sponsors and volunteers in making our club a place people want to be. I won't begin to mention our sponsors (we have a lot) other than to say from the playing group we appreciate you all and understand we take a bit of you with us out there on Saturdays.

On to the footy and we have Scotch coming to Phos for what is now a super important game. Scotch are improving which was always a given from the last time we played them as we know they have talent and a good coach. So we need to be at our best.

We have a few changes from last weeks game to be finalised but at this stage coming in are Ben Toohey and Mitch Molnar for their first games for the year and Josh Bayliss who returns to the side. Josh James will play his first A grade game after a solid apprenticeship. The lad can play. All the best to Josh and our players returning.

Great to have Tom Finn hanging around at training after a season ender last satdy. I can not speak highly enough of this fellars commitment to and love of his club and team mates. His character is infectious.

All the best to Craig and Sam with B's and C's. Let's go for 3 wins.

Biggest highlight of the week was seeing Andrew Harris back safe from overseas after taking some time off footy to play his part in looking after us in A war zone. Thanks big fellar and look forward to you having a kick tomorrow.

Ta, Quinny.

Craigs Prematch report

After a solid win last week we must keep the momentum going against Scotch OC this Saturday. Last time we played they tested us physically so we must be prepared for a scrap.

With some players unavailable and others getting their opportunity in the A Grade (well done to those guys) our side looks a bit different to the one that rolled out last week and gives a chance for some boys to prove themselves in the Twos.

We bring in Andrew (Harry) Harris, back from overseas duties who gives us another tall target up forward, Keegan McGuinness, Hamish Flentje, Eo, Sam Meyers and Sam Webster. Each of these guys give us something different and good flexibility in our side.

We will be tested this week, so we must prepared for anything and I'm confident every player in this side is more than capable of contributing to a win on Saturday.

With our Sponsors watching on this week it would be great to get 3 wins on the day to thank them for supporting our club this year.

Good luck to all grades this week.

Cheers,

Craig B.
