Coaches Report

Hi all,

In what has been the longest preseason in history, we are finally here - Round 1 kicks off this week! I couldn’t think of a better way to kick of the season than a home game on our freshly resurfaced oval.

Firstly, thank you to all the players, officials and supporters for continuing to adhere to the COVID-19 restrictions. Supporters will be pleased to hear that the players were extremely diligent in their training throughout these uncharted times.

Thank you the PHOS community for how you have welcomed myself and the new players to the club. It is a testament to the club, on how welcoming and inclusive you all have been.

This weekend Nick Westhoff, Adam Dorwood, Mitch Goldner, Steven Clay and myself will all be playing our 1st A grade game for the PHOS Camden Football Club.

I’d also like to wish Jono Koutsikas all the best of luck as he plays his 150th senior game for the club.

Last week we were fortunate enough to play a trail game away at Broadview.

Broadview started the game extremely well, dominating clearances and kicking accurately, to blow us away in the first quarter. Throughout the game we were able to make necessary adjustments, which enabled us to get back into contest and hold our own in the second half.

As this group has experienced significant change since last year, I’d ask the supporters to be patient as players adjust to playing under a new coach with new structures, and familiarize themselves with a number of new teammates. Last week’s trail game was exactly what we needed. Myself, along with the assistant coaches, learned a lot from this game that will be put to good use against Scotch this weekend.

I am looking forward to getting out there this weekend and meeting a number of you after game in the club rooms.

Thanks Ryan
