Quinny A grade post match report

In really trying conditions given the strong swirly wind the boys ended up with a good win against Old Iggies on Saturday in a usual tight game between the two clubs.

Although we lost Youngy early in the game the boys covered up well and looked stronger and fitter as the game wore on. We have been really pleased how the guys are grabbing their opportunities that have come about by injuries we have suffered so far. I speak of Ben Toohey who’s footy is going from strength to strength and Sam McGill and Nick Watts showed they can be very much a big part of our side with some good footy and ability to fit in and play the way.

The game was a scrap whilst both teams settled and Old Iggies had a big forward who was busy. As is the way the boys down back worked out and got on top of their forwards and then provided great rebound. Liam Toohey was terrific in his role to replace Jake Scharenberg down there. I’m hesitant to split players for recognition but Liams game was as a result of a great team back there.

After half time we played some really good footy but just some skill errors didn’t allow to hit the scoreboard much, our ideas were great and exciting and the feed back is that it’s great footy to watch. The last quarter again was strong and rounded out the game assisted by great work from the centre square and stoppages.

Orry was going great in ruck with Dean Bonnici terrific in his role all over the ground. Bergs and Lochie Barreau certainly on top and Corey Mcdonald playing a terrific game on ball with clever use and set ups. Wil Pap was strong on his wing and Harry Cumming really good up forward. Ryan Reavley is playing a superb team game for us, it’s exciting and when we use him a bit better, he will have a ball.

Our best was Josh Bayliss played a cracking game with lots of forward entries combined some great shepherds and link up footy across his wing.

Liam Jacka played his role well and finished with 3 goals.

So we get set for Unley this week. Some things to work on for sure but the attitude of this group so far is a pleasure to be around. Thursday night we didn’t train the best but answered up Satdy and showed a lot of character and that is rewarding. Well done guys.

Our B’s and C’s are working really hard under Granty and Mick and we are making huge in roads in to “our way”. Players are stepping up in grade and performing and that’s how we mark the success of our Unit. Keep at it guys and a great chance this week to get a win.

Well done to the club Satdy night re the Phos Cup. Was a really good night.

Ta Quinny

Second match of the season against Old Ignatians and the B grade are starting to find their feet and playing some good football

It was a tough game in trying conditions and although we had our opportunities we couldn’t convert on the score board.

Grantys B grade post match report

The backline did a terrific job under extreme pressure and the midfield grew in confidence as the game went on.

Dane had his usual influence in the middle and Kouta stepped up when moved on the ball to give us some much need drive. Manley is growing in confidence each week and it was great to Brett Eddy in the side working hard in the backline. Sam McCabe came up from the C’s and was able to get plenty of the ball and will only improve as weeks go on. Seb gave us a great contest in the Ruck and young Vassallo is starting to get into the game being new to PHOS

We look forward to taking on Unley Mercedes this week and building on last weeks performance

Well don to Quinny and the A’s and I’m sure the C’s and U18 will bounce back

Mick Summers C grade report

Very winter conditions greeted us this week at Camden Oval, feeling before the game was good boys looked switched on however we always going to be a tough day due the conditions.

Old Ignatians played a very good brand of football there ball movement running in numbers and skill level was too much for our boys to handle, our back line worked hard all day led by Franga with a best on ground performance.

Even though we were well-beaten on the scoreboard on the day I could not fault the endeavor and the hunger still for the football the boys never dropped their heads never, never threw in the towel just continue to fight in scrap all day which I was super proud of.

The best part is we get to do it all again this week so if the boys show same endeavor and desire for the football against  Unley I can only see things improving and a win on the board again.

Cheers

Toosa's u/18s post match report

Today we lost by a goal 7.6 to 6.6 in heavy conditions and swirling winds. We started off well in the first quarter with Max Porter giving us plenty of run off the half back line, Tyler Irvine gave us first use of the ball with his ruck work and our on ballers making most of the opportunity going forward. As the game progressed Port Districts edged there way in front and at half time they led by three goals, we regrouped and took to the field with a few minor changes in the line up and the boys chipped there way back into the game. The last quarter led by old crouchie speaking to the boys at three quarter time which got the boys fired up and finish off the game full of run losing by a goal, next week we play Goodwood Saints at Goodwood  and looking forward to having another crack

Old Iggies

Coped a 76 point loss to newly demoted div1 side SPOCs last week. They won’t be the last side SPOCs smashes this year on their quest back to Div1. Old Iggies finished 7th last year on 7W & 11L, we beat them by around 30 points in our past 2 games. Our last premiership was against Old Iggies in 2015.

Quinnys A grade Prematch report

We host Old Ignatians this week and have had some good games against them previously and expect nothing but another one Saturday.

After a really good first up effort we now need to consolidate and keep working towards making the good footy traits the way we go about our business.

With a couple if injuries from Round 1 we will lose Nick Ramsay one of our Vice Captains and Jake Scharenberg our Captain for a couple of weeks and we lose Sam Williams another one of our Vice Captains with an important Family commitment. (Happy Birthday Erin 😁).  The boys will step up and cover for them.

Coming in is Orry Cross for his first for the year, great to have the big fellar back and Sam McGill returns to A grade footy after a year away. One of the really exciting things also is the inclusion of Nick Watts for his first game of A grade footy. Coming off a full pre season “Wattsy” is in everything and has now got his reward for this effort. Grab it with both hands mate.

All the best to Granty and the two’s, lets bounce back hard lads and Mick and the C’s who like the A grade need to back up. Under 18’s play Sunday so all the best to Toosa and the lads.

Phantoms Horse Race Night Satdy night lets support the club.

Big thanks to Tus Papatolis who stepped in and did the running for us last week. 10.5 km day for Tus then works in the bar. Great club man.

Ta Quinny.

Michaels C grade Prematch report

Well round 2 is here and after a good solid win last week I am looking for the players to continue with the effort and hardness for the contest they show last week.

With some changes this week due to injuries we wish those lads a speedy recovery, but saying that the players that missed out on selection last week get there chance this week, welcome into the team Marley Ried, Brian Cheung, Adien Lyon, Lachie McCabe and Jack Porter.

Great work to the players promoted to B and A grade wishing them all the best.

Good luck to Quinny with the A grade and Granty with the B grade.

Get on down the club early to support the lads then stay around for the Phantom Cup to put some money back to the Club.

See you at the Footy
