Football Director/Head of Football Operations

PHOS Camden

 

Objective

  • To co-ordinate all off field football activities for the Clubs teams to ensure that all players and off field staff are provided with the highest level of support to enable them to compete and perform at the highest level

  • To provide support to the Committee members to ensure the efficient operation of the Club

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee at Football Operations Committee and ensure that this committee fulfil their roles

  • Undertake tasks at the request of the President or General Committee

 

Pre Season

  • Coordinate formulation of the Football Operational Plan.

  • Appoint people to fill the following positions:

  • A-grade Coach. All other coaches report to the A-grade Coach (therefore needs to be a part of the interview process)

  • Recruitment Officer: Work with each coach ensuring excellent player quality and numbers

  • Player Payment Officer: Collect lump sum from club and distribute to paid players after matches

  • Player Registration Officer: Ensure Registrations and Clearances are dealt with effectively. Players need to be financial before cleared.

  • Match Day Administrator: Ensure Match Day administration is correctly completed in a timely fashion

  • League Delegate: Attend League Delegate meetings. Beware and inform club of current issues.

  • Match Day Official Coordinator: Organise and oversee roster for all games

  • Player Sponsor Coordinator: Encourage player sponsorship and liaise with Sponsorship Director

  • Player Subscription Collector: Ensure prompt payment of Player Subs

  • Formulate remuneration packages and contracts for players and coaches and ensure the contracts are executed.

  • Ensure that all contracts fall within the allocated budget and that variations are brought to the General Committee prior to the Club being committed to the variation.

  • Ensure the Coaches appoint the appropriate personnel including assistant coaches, team managers, runners and other team support staff to ensure smooth running on game days.

  • Appoint a Head Trainer(s) and ensure they have a team of trainers for A, B, C Grade and Under 18’s

  • Oversee training numbers and encourage Coaches to be mindful of their lists and constant recruitment

  • Negotiate all clearances and player registrations in accordance with the league rules

 

During season

  • Coordinate delivery of the Football Operational Plan.

  • Provide documentation, all player payments and coaching fees to the League in a timely fashion

  • Liaise between players, coaches, and General Committee.

  • Ensure all equipment is available as required by Coaches and/or League and that it is in good working order – includes match balls.

  • Ensure all support staff are in attendance and are provided with appropriate equipment to undertake their specific role.

  • Oversee the maintenance and management of all training and match equipment

  • Coordinate submission of running sheets and match reports after both home and away games.

  • Ensure players attending League tribunal hearings are supported by quality advocates.

  • Ensure equipment, e.g. jumpers and footballs owned by Club are retained by Club.

 

Relationships

  • Reports to the President and Committee

  • Supports the senior coach, match committee, football support staff including team managers, trainers, runners, boundary umpires and time keepers

 

Accountability

  • The Football Manager is accountable to the President and Committee

  • The Football Manager shall seek ratification from the General Committee of a football budget that includes all Coach, player and trainer payments and shall thereafter have the authority to act within the limits of that budget without reference to the Committee

  • Provide policy development to ensure a safe and productive football environment, and hold players, coaches, volunteers, spectators and members to acceptable and policy driven behaviour

  • Provide a report on portfolio operations to the monthly Committee meeting and an annual review of our work

  • A-grade coach is accountable to the Football Director. All other coaches to the A-grade coach.
