Quinnys Post Match report

Saturday the guys put together a really solid four quarter effort against a good side who were breathing down our necks on the ladder and who out played us earlier in the year.

As a team we discussed that everything from week in now lifts in intensity and importance and the lads actioned the plan and got a good result.

Goal kickers were Gordo with 3 in his first game back after a trip away, Harry Cumming, Dean Bonnici and Andrew Harris kicking 2. Singles to Rama, Ruwy and Sam Underwood.

Best players were all the boys. We put a plan in place as a group, worked it through and got the job done. As coaches we were very happy with all the guys. Our best though were Orrs again, Rich O'Grady, Reavs, Bergs in a different role and Ruwy.

Well done to Craig who has the B's firing and it's great to see. Sammy Talors C's although not getting a win will bounce back and Rich got another solid win in the U/18's.

A week off now from footy and then we get a crack at Henley who continue to roll on. Should be a good game.

Thanks, Quinny.

Craigs Postmatch report

Gaza were up for a fight last Saturday and certainly gave us a  bit of a scare. We dictated play and went in at half time with a six goal lead and were looking to extend the lead in the third quarter but Gaza stepped it up after the main break.

We kicked the first goal of the second half but then proceeded to let them kick the next five to go in at three quarter time with only a two goal buffer. After re grouping at the last change and realising the result wasn’t just going to happen without hard work, the boys took it up a level by playing good team footy in the final quarter and doing the things that got us the initial lead by kicking the last eight goals of the game and keeping the opposition scoreless in the last quarter. This was the sort of response we needed to have.

Declan Grant kicked six goals in his best on ground performance, he worked hard up and down the ground on his flank and managed to get plenty of the ball despite some close attention from the opposition while Brent Eddy created plenty of run from his back flank in his first game back for a couple of weeks. Nick Watts is showing his consistency week to week playing on the ball giving us great drive,  Jake Resnais set up a couple of goals, kicked one himself and created plenty of forward pressure in his 100th game while Dave Parkins had another good game in the ruck and Jack Loades up forward rounded out our best kicking 3 goals.

The boys showed some good character on Saturday, they could’ve just drifted through the last quarter to hang on for a narrow win after being challenged by a spirited opposition but they decided that they wanted to make a statement which was what we wanted to see especially with four tough games coming up after the break starting with Henley.

Well done to the A’s and Under 18’s on the weekend and a tough break for the C Grade who I know are keen to bounce back next game.

Cheers,

Craig B.

u/18 Ritchies  Post Match Report

Our win was fought out in very windy, wet and cold conditions on Sunday which made playing difficult at times. I thought in the first half at times we where second to the ball and allowed the opposition to get their tails up and be with us at half time.

In the second half we were a lot better in all aspects of the game, our work rate and skill level lifted allowing us to control the game causing the opposition to make mistakes and turn the ball over in which the boys capitalized and were rewarded for their effort, in all it was a good win in trying conditions and with two games remaining was very important in the makeup of the top five.

On the downside was the injury to Josh Bayliss in his desperate attempt to stop a goal and also a rolled ankle to Max Porter, hopefully they should recover and be fit for their next game in two weeks time due to a bye this week.

Well done to Simon and Craig in the As and Bs and bad luck to Sam in the Cs.

Cheers Richie.

Best players T Edwards, S Mcabe, L Toohey, C Brini, D Grant, J Kewell

Quinnys Pre Match report

Big game for the A grade tomorrow V Gaza. They outplayed us last time and as we know how bigger game it is they would too.

Going out are Mitch Molnar and Josh Bayliss back to the 2's. Harry Young is away for the week.

Coming in is Andrew Harris, Hamish Gordon who trained the house down after a trip away and got off the plane Tuesday and turned up at training straight away. Bergs comes back to the side as well. 3 good ins.

All the best to Craig, Sam and Rich and their lads. Lets get 4 wins.

Ta, Quinny.

Craigs Prematch report

We venture to Gaza this week who have had indifferent form in the B Grade this year so we must be prepared for hard, tough game. Despite their ladder position they will definitely be up and about on their home deck and we must not underestimate them.

With a lot of players becoming available this week made selection tough and there were a couple of guys that went back to the C's this week that have been playing solid footy for us over the past couple of weeks.

Dane Laing, Nick Walters, Sam Webster, Tom Unger and Brent Eddy all come back from being unavailable while Josh Bayliss and Mitch Molnar come back to us from the A's and will be keen to put in big games this week to get their spots back.

Team footy has got us to where we are at the moment and this must continue this week.

Congratulations to Jake Resnais who plays his 100th game for the club this weekend and good luck to Simon and the A's, Sam and the C's and Ritchie and the Under 18's this week in some important games in the scheme of the season.

Cheers,

Craig B.
